(1..10).map(&:to_s) Developer T-Shirt

(1..10).map(&:to_s) turns a range into an array of strings in a single expression. No loop, no block body — &:to_s passes the method itself as the operation.

It's a small example of how Ruby reads: iteration, blocks, and symbol-to-proc shorthand condensed into one line that does exactly what it says. The kind of thing other languages take a loop and a few lines to express.

Shipping and returns

Shipping costs vary by region, so it's worth giving the delivery total at checkout a quick look before confirming your order. Some variants may show limited availability in certain locations—if fulfilment isn't available in your region, our suppliers will try to ship globally from the nearest facility that can produce that specific item. When this happens, delivery costs may be higher than expected due to the increased distance.

We're constantly reviewing suppliers and expanding fulfilment options, and new routes may open over time.

Ruby's Symbol-to-Proc: Understanding .map(&:to_s) Syntax

Ruby's .map(&:to_s) syntax looks cryptic at first. It's syntactic sugar for passing blocks to methods, converting symbols to procs automatically. Understanding it makes Ruby code more concise and idiomatic.
