rescue nil Developer T-Shirt

rescue nil swallows any exception a statement raises and substitutes nil. One line, no error class, no logging — the failure simply disappears.

It's Ruby at its most permissive: convenient for a quick guard against a value that might not be there, and quietly dangerous everywhere else, since it hides the difference between an expected miss and a real bug. Most Rubyists write it at least once. Most learn to be specific about what they're rescuing soon after.

Shipping and returns

Shipping costs vary by region, so it's worth giving the delivery total at checkout a quick look before confirming your order. Some variants may show limited availability in certain locations—if fulfilment isn't available in your region, our suppliers will try to ship globally from the nearest facility that can produce that specific item. When this happens, delivery costs may be higher than expected due to the increased distance.

We're constantly reviewing suppliers and expanding fulfilment options, and new routes may open over time.

Ruby's rescue nil: Exception Handling Shorthand (And Why to Avoid It)

Ruby's 'rescue nil' suppresses errors silently, returning nil when exceptions occur. It's tempting for its brevity, but it hides problems instead of solving them. Understanding why it's discouraged improves Ruby error handling.
